What to Wear to Every Outdoor Summer Event on Your Calendar

Picnic in the Park

For a picnic in the park, and the potential activities that come along with the event, shorts and sneakers are a must. Instead of a casual T-shirt, take your look one step further by opting for a pajama-style button-down and mirrored aviators.

Get the Look: Picnic in the Park

Sperry Top-Sider Largo metal aviator sunglasses, $42, nordstromrack.com; Shelby pajama top, $195, araks.com; Converse Chuck Taylor canvas hightop sneakers, $60, net-a-porter.com; Frame Denim distressed denim shorts, $180, farfetch.com

Outdoor Concert

Outdoor concerts are the best excuse to slip into a romper or playsuit. Dressier than traditional shorts, the versatile one-piece is better than a dress at cutting down on wardrobe malfunctions when dancing. It even leaves the door open for a little crowd surfing!

Get the Look: Outdoor Concert

Seaglow cover-up romper, $40, madewell.com; Rag & Bone Mini Enfield leather cross-body bag, $495, nordstrom.com; wool fedora, ebay.com, $48, topshop.com; color-block flat espadrilles, $135, toryburch.com

Engagement Party

For summer engagement parties, easy glamour is the name of the game. A printed dress will do most of the styling work for you so you can focus on celebrating the happy couple. Slip into a pair of high-heeled sandals, grab a matching clutch, and it's time to hit the dance floor in full force!

Get the Look: Daytime Summer Engagement Party

Double-strap heeled sandals, $40, zara.com; Devon Leigh 18-karat-gold-plated twist cuff, $295, neimanmarcus.com; Chloé Baylee leather pouch, $585, mytheresa.com; Thakoon Addition floral-print layered dress, $396, farfetch.com

Barbecue With Friends

When your friends invite you over for a barbecue, use it as an excuse to break out that preppy summer shirtdress and ballet flats. Reach for a cross-body bag to keep your hands free for the hamburgers and fries you're already salivating over. Last but not least? Have a bit of fun and top the look off with a straw hat.

Get the Look: Barbecue With Friends

P.A.R.O.S.H. Broderie Anglaise shirtdress, $392, farfetch.com; wide-brim straw fedora, $15, forever21.com; Tabitha Simmons Coco stripe-trim ballerina flats, $495, neimanmarcus.com; buckle suede bag, $60, mango.com, ebay.com. Enter eBay Discount Code discount code during checkout to get $10 OF $50 Orders Of Clothing, Shoes & More! Some exclusions may apply! Ends July 24.2015!

Poolside Party

A pool party is the best time to rock a one-piece bathing suit. Doing double duty as a shirt and swimsuit, the full-coverage piece pairs easily with jean shorts when sitting poolside but cuts down on extra layers when you're ready to jump into the water.

Get the Look: Poolside Party

Solid & Striped Anne-Marie one-piece, $150, barneys.com; Factory denim roll-up shorts, $45, factory.jcrew.com; The Sightseer buckle gladiator sandals, $55, madewell.com; Boy shirt in classic white, $70, jcrew.com, ebay.com

Fashion Tip: Today I'm Wearing: Alexa For AG

FOR Alexa Chung, 2015 could see the start of a new chapter - that of fully-fledged fashion designer. Having successfully taken on the roles of model, TV presenter and author, the start of the year sees the launch of the collection that she has designed for AG Denim, and it's a sign of things to come.

"I imagine, or I hope rather, that I will become a full-time designer," the Vogue contributing editor told us, revealing that her criteria is a specific one. "I choose brands to work with based on whether I get on with the people in charge there, whether it's a brand that I already like, and how they would define my role in the relationship. So, at this stage if it's something that I can have full creative control over I am more inclined to do it."

Creative control is something that Chung has never lacked, she is more than confident making her own style choices, especially when it comes to being an English girl in New York.

"I pray to Sixties icons such as Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and Francoise Hardy - and I ask the internet for advice via Googling 'Jane Birkin'," she said. But despite the French influence, Chung has remained true to her British roots.

"Having lived in New York for half of my twenties the only thing that I think it has served to do is make me fonder, or at least more romantic, about British dressing. I made a conscious effort when I got here not to dress like a downtown New Yorker and I made sure I had a lot cable-knit jumpers and schoolgirl skirts in my wardrobe."

No doubt Birkin and Bardot were reference points for her retro-peppered AG collaboration, a collection that she hopes will become wardrobe staples.

"I just wanted to make clothes that I would be really happy wearing. As well as making my dream skinny jeans, I wanted to make vintage-inspired jeans that felt comfortable like modern-day jeans do, taking old-school silhouettes but making sure that the modern technology that we have today would make them wearable." And big denim no-nos? "Awkward camel toes, holes in the bum or unflattering back pockets and things like that."

So to mark the launch of the collection, who better to show us how it should be worn than the BFC-declared style icon herself? Click through a week's worth of AG-infused ensembles that Chung styled for us over the Christmas break for ultimate new-year inspiration.

NATURAL BEAUTY BRANDS FOR A FLAWLESS SUMMER LOOK

If you ask most women about their everyday beauty look you’ll likely hear some variation of “a natural finish”. That’s because even on the days when we’re gliding on a fiery lip, we still want our complexion to look flawless and our face to be as product-free as possible. There are a lot of ways we can achieve this, but for the girl who wants to wear product and is conscious of ingredients, natural brands is the way to go. For those summer days when base and brows are polished and our lips and nails stand out, here are four natural beauty brands that make an impact in more ways than one.
Natural Beauty Brands For a Flawless Summer Look
Ecobrow - A new player in the beauty world, EcoBrow was created by expert brow threader Marco Ochoa. There are multiple ways to apply product for on fleek brows, but not many are natural nor do they elicit compliments from everyone in sight. Ochoa knew this, which is why his Defining Wax is available in 4 shades that can go on in layers for more intensity. By using a brush and a spooley to smooth the color out, you seriously can’t mess up the application. The best part? The wax stays put, meaning brows hold their shape and product won’t sweat off no matter how hot it gets outside.
Jane Iredale Cosmetics - The brand was started by Jane Iredale herself to fill a void of natural beauty products being used in her very industry, entertainment. Since a clear complexion was a priority, developing a makeup line that didn’t mess with the skin and provided amazing coverage was what she set out to do. Her products are cruelty-free, loaded with natural goodness and most importantly, they deliver. A perfect addition to your summer beauty au-naturel look, her mineral powders are all products you need rolled into one. But for those days that you want to cover a blemish, or even a tattoo, and not have added shine, go for Disappear. A light-weight, full coverage concealer that can mask just about anything, leaving you with a flawless matte finish.
Ilia Beauty - What we put on our lips is important, which is why Founder Sasha Plavsic thought it necessary to create a pure brand with rich hues. While they offer mascara and skin care, their pride and joy are their 85% bioactive organic ingredient lipsticks and tints. Each lipstick is housed in a recycled aluminum tube and has the type of color payoff that requires you to know anti-feathering tricks. For summer there are two options, go bright or be balanced. For a touch of color try In My Room. To stand out at night, Neon Angel is divine.
Scotch Naturals Lacquer - These water-based lacquers are 100% toxin and paraben-free. Scotch Naturals is the type of polish that offers long-lasting wear without any questionable ingredients–that’s a hard thing to deliver when we’re talking nail color, especially during summer months when our nails see the water more often. But what makes the brand an even bigger must this season is the color selection. Those bold and pastel hues that are finding their way on toes and fingers everywhere are even more beautiful when natural. Try Canal Street Daisy, Loch Lomond or Roasted Mellow.

SWIMSUITS WORTH THE WEIRD TAN LINES FOR SUMMER 2015

As I get older, I become less and less afraid to take risks and try new things – especially when it comes to style. Whether it’s a bikini or one piece, there’s no reason to stick to what you’ve worn in the past. There’s no better time than now to try a daring new summer look, even if it does mean flaunting a few out of the ordinary tan lines throughout the season.
Swimsuits Worth the Weird Tan Lines | michellephan.com
1. Mesh Contrast – A bikini comprised of alternating mesh like the RVCA Cross Back Bikini is sexy without quite bearing it all. Don't forget Check out Ebay discount code, Ebay promo code, Ebay redemption code July 2015 for saving!
2Tassle Triangle – Forget fringe, this Tassel Triangle Bikini Top allows you to accessorize your swimwear with no effort at all. Pair it with bejeweled bottoms for a glam look.
3. Strappy Bandeau – Summer’s most fun colors contrast with jet black in this bustier-style one piece.
4. Kitten Fever – Like the pieces in my kawaii fashion roundup, there’s nothing wrong with adding a little cute to your daily style! And what’s cuter than kitties AND cupcakes like the ones in this ModCloth bikini? Kitties and cupcakes displayed on a retro style swimsuit, of course.
5. Color Block – Taking color block to a new level, this Brazil Bandeau is cut out on the sides and back. Sure, your tan will also be a color block, but it’s worth it to be able to flaunt this on the beach.
6. Racing Stripes – Another color block style, this pastel swimsuit top mixes sexy and sporty with a strappy racer back. It’s also available in a hot pink combo.
7. Versatile One Piece – With the option to go straps, halter, or without, this Minkpink one piece has it all: a supportive underwire busy, mesh side panels and a dreamy floral pattern. Who says one-pieces are boring?
8. Negative Space – Another tempting one piece for all you bikini lovers, the angular cutouts of a swimsuit like this Shirred Waist Swimsuit offer a modern, geo-inspired twist on a classic ruched style.
9. Sporty Spice – Sporty two pieces aren’t just for swim meets. If athletic is your go-to swimsuit style, amp it up with a killer color combo (peach and mint, anyone?) and fun text or graphics like this Mermaid bikini.

The Grown-Up Way to Wear Jean Shorts

If you're in your post collegiate days, you're keenly aware that you can no longer get away with cutoffs that basically resemble denim briefs. That's not to say that jean shorts aren't our single favorite summer apparel staple. Au contraire—we love them! But it's all about choosing the right fit and styling them like the sophisticated woman you are.

So here are there are rules to keep in mind when shopping for, and subsequently styling, jean shorts:

The Chestnut Hill, What the Chung, Girl With Curves

1. Inseam Length: The inseams of your shorts should be at least two inches long. A good rule of thumb is that you should be able to sit cross-legged without worrying about exposing anything.

Luella & June, Look De Pernelle, Style Lovely

2. Opt for a rolled-hem style: Not only is a rolled hem a great way to vary the length of your shorts, but the makeshift tailoring also gives a more grown-up vibe to the youthful style.

Raven Locks, Seams for a Desire, Sincerely Jules

3. Style with a button-down: There are countless styling tricks that make any denim shorts style more polished and, thus, more sophisticated. One such trick is to tuck a crisp button-down into your favorite pair, but most classics will yield the same result (Think: Breton stripes, blazers, and the like.)

We Wore What, The Girl From Panama, Locks and Trinkets

4. Find your natural waist: Choose shorts to sit comfortably at your natural waist. If you have the legs to show off a slightly shorter pair, the extra rise will balance the shorts shape. If you prefer a longer pair, a higher rise will make your legs look miles long.

Soraya Bakhtiar, Atlantic Pacific, Something About That

5. Go long: Whether you prefer a tailored style or slouchy boyfriend fit, a longer shorts style is always age-appropriate. The transitional style allows for equal parts pairing with casual sneakers and city heels too.

Camille Over the Rainbow, Collage Vintage, Tuula Vintage

6. Don’t give up on the cutoffs: Though it’s time to rethink the denim cutoffs, it’s not time to say goodbye. At least not yet. When seeking out the beloved style, make sure to keep them a bit baggy, never tight. A looser, slouchy fit will cut down on the shorts-that-look-like-underwear feel. Consider cutting up an old pair of jeans to ensure the best well-loved fit.

Summer Sandals for People Who Have Shy Feet

Jacey Duprie of Damsel in Dior in closed-toe espadrilles.
Sandals are a summer wardrobe staple, though there are those among us who prefer not to bare all when it comes to their feet. If you'd prefer a great pair of closed-toe flats to barely-there thong sandals, this story's for you.

It turns out that you don't need to turn your back on sandals altogether; there are a variety of options on sale now that offer a covered-up-yet-still-airy look. If you're toe-shy, try a pair of slides with wide straps or slingbacks that come up high on the vamp. You'll be showing only the tops of your toes and won't even need to touch up that pedicure.

If you're looking for more overall coverage, look for styles that have decorative details to distract the eye away from your feet and onto your beyond-chic shoes. The good news is that there are an abundance of styles this season that offer creative coverage in the form of fringe or detailed lacing.

We scoured the market for  sweetest sandals that will provide you with the coverage you've been looking for and the cuteness you need (priorities, y'all).

Hot Handbag Trends of 2015

Spring is over and summer has arrived, but it does not mean that you should stop suiting up for the season! With that being said, a warm weather outfit is not complete with the newest handbag trends. Complete your attire with these handbag suggestions below.
FLORAL BAGS1BUCKET BAG
CIRCLE BAG
STRUCTURED TOP HANDLE BAGS
FRINGE BAGS
Of course, spring and summer aren’t complete without floral designs. But if blooms prove to be too much for you, you can always tone it down with floral handbag trends. Be it a clutch or an oversized bag, a floral handbag can get you in tune with the season. Check out Ebay redemption code July 2015 on bags
Since floral trends can be too bright and sunny, avoid matching them with them with majestically printed outfits. Keep it toned down with a simple tee-and-jeans combination and you are good to go.
If you bring loads with you wherever you go, then it makes sense that you adhere to bucket bag trends. After all, these timeless classics look polished – without keeping your hands full. What’s great about the bucket bag is that it’s very versatile. You can wear it with a classic outfit or a laidback one, it does not matter! You are bound to look stellar with it.
2
Want to look unique yet stylish? Then circle spring bag trends are what you are looking for. These elliptical clutches will make you see circles – literally! Because of their cute nature, circle bags are best used with casual, youthful clothes. After all, the season is all about having fun!
3
Flimsy bag trends are perfect for the season, but there are times when you need to dress up and look formal. For these events, you can benefit most from a structured top handle bag. This exquisite handbag can add a dash of elegance to your look. As an added bonus, such bags are spacious enough to accommodate your not-so-basic essentials. So instead of cramming it all up in a small clutch, why not look sleeker in a structured top handle bag?
4
Spring and summer bag trends are all about the 70’s. With that being said, it comes as no surprise why fringe bags prove to be the headliners of the season. These funky handbags – as seen on the runways of Salvatorre Ferragamo – are more than just bohemian chic. They can be work-appropriate too. Balance the look by wearing a fringe bag with a sleek, simple look. Remember, too much of a good thing is vile – so don’t go fringe on fringe!
