Jord Watches: Animal Friendly and Incomparably Elegant

jord watches review by my beauty bunny
Press-SampleVeganlicious Mondays: Father’s Day Idea – gift alert! Jord Wooden Watches!
Most vegans (and even a lot of cruelty free shoppers) choose not to wear leather. Leather is far from a necessity and honestly, there are SO many amazing alternatives in the shoes, bags, and watches departments. It makes me wonder…why would anyone ever want to sport animal skin?!

One of the most beautiful non-leather watch makers I’ve ever come across is JORD. Their premium quality watches are constructed from all natural wood. Yes, wood. The watches are like little works of art, with the material on each piece showcasing the natural grain of the wood and making it unique.

jord watches review by my beauty bunny

Their designs come in men’s, women’s, and unisex. While I was eyeing the Sidney (for women, complete with Swarovski crystals), I chose the Dover as a gift for my husband – he deserves it. This would also make a great gift! I selected the Dover design because it is elegant, intricate, and timeless (pun shamelessly intended.)

My husband was in love with the watch at first sight (and trust me, I know what his “love at first sight” looks like.) He mentioned that he loves how the piece can be dressed up or down, that you can see the natural grain of the wood that was used to craft it and that, as he puts it, “the high quality is obvious to anyone who catches sight of it.” It is very well-made, and you can tell.

jord watches review by my beauty bunny

The watch is light to wear, and almost feels like it becomes a part of you. The second hand is smooth on it’s never-ending journey and you can see the inner mechanisms bouncing around as the proverbial “wheels” turn.

Jord offers a service that will size the watch for you before it arrives. (How, you ask? They include easy printable instructions. If you can use a scissors, you can measure your wrist.) This service costs $10 and makes life a bit easier.

Like most watches, the Jord watches are automatic and will self-wind. However, it arrives unwound and you can wind it by hand if you choose. (Also, if you don’t wear it for a period of time, you’ll have to wind it by hand to get a head start. This is easy and there are instructions included.)

I’m pretty sure any man would be thrilled and honored to receive a Jord watch. But it would make an especially meaningful gift to any man who is concerned for the well-being of animals – and those are the best type of men anyway.

Shop for Jord watches at Ebay.com or woodwatches.com. Men's watches available for up to 90% OFF at eBay with Ebay redemption code june 2015! Shop & save now!

How to Skip a Six Week Hair Fix + Ebay redemption code

For many of us, getting our hair color fixed often isn’t realistic. We want gorgeous locks, but it can be expensive. The frequency you need a touchup comes all too quick when your wallet is strapped. If you’re trying to go natural and grow out your dyed hair then you likely experience the same pains those of us who slack in the touch up department do. Lazy, broke or just plain over coloring your hair, here are 5 ways (from products to styles) to mask your roots and skip the six week hair fix until you’re really ready.
How to Mask Your Roots
Tinted Dry Shampoo - This savior of a product isn’t only a vanity necessity for banishing oily hair.  Some formulas are actually tinted to match your tone and eliminate the white residue left behind by most. Drugstore brand Batiste has a formula for blondes and deep browns that when spritzed on your roots helps blend into your hair and either brighten dark roots or disguise ash and gray ones. Cult fave Klorane also has a fantastic formula for brunettes that can be used to your overdue color advantage.

Change Your Part - A straight part can accentuate just about any hair issue you’ve having. Thinning hair or desperate for a dye job, wearing a tousled uneven part will actually hide the appearance of unsightly roots. You can play around with your part to see what works best–try a side part or blow dry and flip to let your part decide for itself. Loosely curl your hair with a Nume Wand and you’re doing extra duty. The waves will add a little more masking texture. Use Ebay redemption code for saving
Master Updos - If your hair isn’t colored a single shade and is foiled instead, this is the perfect alternative to give your hair a few more weeks of wear. The same styles you rock to disguise dirty hair will work on creating the illusion that your roots aren’t too long to be worn with pride. The trick is trying styles with texture or volume–think braids or loose top knots.
Root Spray - When you’re only a few weeks in and notice your roots peeking out, reach for the root spray. Mainly intended to hide grays between visits, these color concentrates can be applied to the roots and worn without risk of coming out until your next shampoo. Rita Hazan Root Concealer and Style Edit Root Concealer offer strong coverage for every shade from blonde to red to black.
Go Sombre - Ok, maybe you hate the salon, but still want beautiful hair in the hottest style. The answer is the Sombre. Where most ombre hair involves adding color about half way up your locks that blends out, the sombre takes a more colored approach. Your stylist will add color closer to your roots to create a longer gradient transition between your natural hair and dyed hair. When your natural hair comes in your strands will continue to look as good as day one (especially when maintained properly) and transition into a regular ombre. With this alternative you’ll have more time to master tricks for the best beach waves instead of worrying about your hair color.

Why You Should Exfoliate…Everywhere

Out with the old and in with the new. It’s a phrase we know well. While it’s typically reserved for jobs, relationships and spring cleaning, it also relates to our skin. Beyond hydrating, one of the most beneficial things you can do for your skin is exfoliate. That’s because as we age our body’s  natural exfoliation slows down, meaning dead skin cells, clogged pores and the likelihood for an uneven complexion are more prevalent. Exfoliating gives you a natural glow, helps stimulate blood circulation and really, it breathes new life into your skin. Often you only hear about cleansing your face, but I’m here to tell you, you need to exfoliate everywhere.
Exfoliating all over helps make hydration and shaving much more effective, but that’s not all. Here’s why you should exfoliate each region and a few rules about frequency and ways to do.
Why You Should Exfoliate Everywhere

Lips

Our lips are ultra sensitive, so be gentle. You can exfoliate to help plump your lips and exfoliate to help products go on smooth. Whatever your purpose, use a soft lip scrub every few days or rub your toothbrush over your lips after you’ve brushed. This summer when you’re wearing high shine products, you’ll be doing it the right way–no bleeding color or parched pout here.

Face

I could go on forever about this one. You can dry brush your face 3 times a week, use a Konjac facial sponge without product or try an exfoliating cleanser (not recommended if you have sensitive skin) to brighten up your skin every day. A small round edge granule exfoliant will banish blackheads, help foundation look flawless when applied, and during summer months, allow you to go makeup-free with confidence without injuring your skin.

Body

Unfortunately our bodies aren’t exempt from experiencing skin issues. If you work out a lot or sweat at night you might know the struggle. Luckily, with the proper body skin care routine and regular exfoliating you’re on your way to clear, smooth, swimsuit ready skin. With dead skin gone, your moisturizer has more chance to work. Don’t forget those pesky areas like mid-back, the sides of your behind and chest. Remember to only exfoliate every few days. Too frequent exfoliation–depending on your skin type–can cause irritation, redness and over-drying.Shop body care items at Ebay.com

Legs

Speaking of being ready to rock a killer swimsuit, our legs need extra TLC. While exfoliating’s main goal is to get you nourished, healthy skin, roughing up your gams once or twice a week has two other major benefits. Dry brushing your legs is believed to help reduce cellulite thanks to increased blood flow from the exfoliation process, while pre-shave exfoliation (in a circular motion) makes for a closer shave and less ingrown hairs. It also helps razors last longer because they don’t dull from dead skin.

Bikini Line

No matter how you manage your nether region, it’s good to do a light exfoliation along your bikini line to prevent irritation and ingrown hairs. If you shave, this will reduce the chance for razor burn (shutter!) and if you’re prepping for a wax, it’s vital. Because you don’t want to risk any chance for product irritation, stick with warm water and a natural sponge to get the job done.

Feet

Whether trying to clean them up for sandal season or nourish them during cold weather months, our feet need exfoliating to stay soft. Long days in heels or uncomfortable shoes without socks can harden your soles and leave your toes screaming for a pedicure. Try a DIY citrus scrub every other night on your heels and then all over when about to repolish your nails. This will make the skin softer and clean up edges around the nails, leaving you with a better polish job and less chance for hangnails and cuticle buildup.

5 Beauty Products That Are Worth The Splurge

The price we’re willing to pay for beauty can vary a great deal. You can be wiling to pay an arm and a leg for practical beauty tools or stand firm that drugstore brands get the job done. With so many options it isn’t hard to see why people test out the most buzzed about products no matter the price tag. When it comes to buying there are a few rules I follow, but in general if it has solid reviews, contains quality ingredients and applies well, I’m in.
I’ve tried hundreds of products–many that have blown my mind–but today I wanted to feature 5 of those that no matter what, they’re worth the splurge.

1. Rm DNA Renewal DNA Sheer Defense – Wearing SPF on your face should be a no brainer at this point, but it’s rare that we think about that protection as a way to help collagen growth as well. DNA Renewal is part of a circle of products emerging that not only act as a light BB Cream with 50+ SPF, but also works to repair existing sun damage with enzymes and vitamins. You could save your money and stick with a 30 SPF face lotion or you can go big to fight cellular damage, even out your skins tone and texture, and be confident that you’ll have all-day coverage without a high shine, oily finish.
2. La Mer The Lip Balm - La Mer as a brand is no joke. I’ve been using their Creme de la Mer for ages, so it’s not surprising that their a celeb and overall cult fave despite the jaw dropping fee. The Lip Balm is no different. Containing the brand’s mystery Miracle Broth the balm goes on sheer while moisturizing and restoring your lips texture. Since the skin on our lips is one of the most sensitive, and easily affected by the elements, it’s important to take great care of them. If you’ve ever used a balm that had your lips thirsting for another application, you know that you can become dependent on a product. With La Mer that won’t happen, but you’ll want to apply it when necessary for a silky smooth, mega hydrated pout. And if you can’t justify using it for only your lips, luckily there are plenty of other uses for lip balm.
3. MAC Cosmetics Penultimate Eye Liner - There are a lot of formulas to use and ways to apply your eyeliner. One that always seems like an easy solution, even for the makeup novice, is a liquid marker-like liner. However most, especially those with more affordable price tags, rarely deliver the color results desired and tend to go on more watery and require more effort than your pencil, cream or typical liquid liner. But when you find the right one, these pen style liners offer precision application and major color payoff. That’s why the MAC Penultimate Liner is a must. Along with the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner, these liners dress up your eyes and go on flawlessly.
4. NCLA Nail Lacquers – It can be hard to justify paying $16 for nail polish, especially when we change our polish as quickly as our minds. But between all the brands on the market and color options available, sometimes there seems to be a lack of new, original hues to polish on. That’s where NCLA kills it and is worth every penny. While there are crazy neon colors (which aren’t true neons btw) from cheaper brands, there just isn’t that same confetti meets summer vibe meets “Oh You Say You Have Nail Wraps too!” like NCLA offers. Their creamy lacquers are made right here in California and are 5-free. And their holographic line…need I say more!
5. AmorePacific Color Control Cushion Compact – Cushion compacts were one of the most buzzed about beauty products last year and for good reason. Just like MAC’s eye liner, you have a lot of options when it comes to foundation application, but what makes the AmorePacific Cushion Compact worth the $60 splurge is that it’s basically 3 beauty products rolled into one. The coverage is unbelievable, the cushion applicator allows you to build your product up for light to heavy coverage days, the cushion also provides a streak-free finish (no brushes required) and it touts SPF 50. What better way to protect your face and get an even complexion?

5 Must Try Face Masks For All Skin Types

5 DIY Face Masks To Try At Home

Everything you need for beautiful skin is right in your own kitchen. It’s incredibly easy to make your own face masks at home. Whether you have dry, oily or combination skin, there’s a perfect mask to make you skin look stunning.

Oily And Acne Prone Skin
All you need is three ingredients to help even out oily skin and reduce acne flair ups. This mask also tightens pores and promotes healing.
Start with 5 strawberries, 1 tablespoon of honey (organic works best) and 1/4 of a medium sized lemon. Cut up and mash strawberries into a pulp in a small bowl. Squeeze in the lemon juice from the wedge and mix in the honey until well blended. Add more honey to thicken if necessary.
Apply to your face and leave on for up to 15 minutes. Rinse well when done. Use up to twice a week.
Dry, Rough Skin
This simple mask helps moisturize and heal dry skin. It’s also ideal for mature skin to add in vital moisture.
Combine half of a mashed avocado and a quarter cup of honey. Apply to your skin and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse skin thoroughly when done. Use these 2-3 times per week.
Sensitive Skin
If you have sensitive or irritated skin (such as sunburned), this mask is ideal. It’s designed to soothe, heal and moisturize.
Combine a cup of plain yogurt with half a cup of oatmeal. Use a thicker yogurt for best results. Store leftovers in the refrigerator. Apply to skin for 10-15 minutes. Wash off with a warm cloth.
If you have oily skin, add 2-3 drops of lemon juice. For dry skin, add a tablespoon of honey to the mix.
Combination Skin
This mask is perfect for balancing combination skin. Try this mask as your roses start to wilt for an even more effective mask.
You’ll need 5-6 rose petals (which are completely optional), 2 tablespoons of rosewater, 1 tablespoon of natural yogurt, 1 tablespoon of warm honey. Mix together all ingredients. If using petals, soak them and then crush in a bowl. Apply to face and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse well when done.
Skin Brightening
This mask is good for all skin types and is used to brighten and nourish the skin. It exfoliates, hydrates and tightens pores as well.
Combine 2 pureed kiwis, 3 tablespoons of plain yogurt, 1 tablespoon of orange juice and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Apply to skin and leave on until the mixture drives on your face. Rinse thoroughly when done.

Fashion On Point: Lime Ricki Swimwear

lime ricky swimwear review my beauty bunny simplyveganlicious

Press-SampleCruelty-Free Fashion Swimwear

Vegans can struggle with a number of areas in fashion, usually in the areas of anything made of leather shoes, bags, watches, etc. Luckily, swimwear isn’t one of those areas! Still, I’m happy to support a great indie company like Lime Ricki and show off some of their adorable styles for your next trip to the beach.
Lime Ricki prides themselves on providing slightly more modest options when it comes to swimwear. Let’s face it, a lot of swimwear these days takes the “itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini” a bit too literally in the “itsy bitsy teeny weeny” department! Lime Ricki’s line is stylish, bright, fun, and just plain old adorable, while still offering a bit more coverage for those who desire it. They offer a number of mix and match styles, pairing tankini tops with a variety of bottoms. They also offer a great selection of one-pieces, all of which are current and stylistically up-to-date.
lime ricky swimwear review my beauty bunny simplyveganlicious
I tried on the Double Ruffle Navy One-Piece. This suit was a winner with me – it boasted great fit, quality, and style. I’ll be straight with you: I used to be a plus size model and usually wear a size 14 (I wore an XL in this suit.) It doesn’t have any underwires, so I think smaller chested girls will do best with this style. (The suits are available starting size XS.) The bottom was tight enough to not ride up on me while I ran and played. And honestly…those ruffles on the stomach proved the perfect camouflage for my little belly. This was a really unique style that works well for women of any size.
lime ricky swimwear review my beauty bunny simplyveganlicious
I really love some of their other styles as well. The peplum one-pieces are a great way to camouflage a belly. And I REALLY love the idea of being able to mix and match my swimwear! The bottoms come in briefs, shorts, and skirts. You’ll be able to a two-piece set for about $80.
Lime Ricki swimwear really does have something for every figure and every style.Happy shopping and happy summer! In addition, you also shop hot swimwears at Ebay.comGet Up To 60% OFF Fashion Outlet + FREE Shipping at eBay.! Limited time only! Redeem the Ebay coupon code june 2015 and save!
