Have you ever noticed how some of the trends you thought would be fleeting end up sticking around for years? Contouring is definitely one of them. All of those not-so-human looking contouring before photos seemed less than applicable to real life, but if you’ve read my last post on contouring, you know that there are plenty of powders and creams to help you get a more defined look without going way overboard. Still, the whole contouring routine isn’t for everyone – especially not those who want a lighter, brighter look.
The solution? Strobing. Strobing is a newer-than-contouring highlighter trick that’s everywhere right now because it’s basically half the work of the contour, without lacking the polished look. The difference between the two is actually pretty simple: strobing is the highlighting half of contouringonly. No blending of dark and light or piling on various products. It, as you might imagine when only using highlighter, creates a brighter, more glowing look – think sunkissed and glowing, and even a little dewy. It’s one of those more au natural looks – the kind that appears effortless yet dimensional, and needless to say it’s perfect for spring!

Of course, some are just fun too. Here are 10 beauty rituals that actually offer results – no matter how crazy they seem to onlookers!

2. Covering up your face with folded, lotion soaked tissues for a DIY sheet mask.

So, we’ve covered the basics, with eye brushes and pens, but calligraphy has influenced the beauty industry in countless ways. WARM EYESHADOW: A HOW-TO GUIDE FOR THE COLOR SHY

But how does this style translate to our everyday makeup routine? When we’re so used to naturals, metallics, and blues, wearing warm eye makeup can seem daunting. But this daring style is actually pretty easy to rock, as long as you apply it with a few vital techniques in mind.
Prep your eyes. The biggest concern with warm color eyeshadow is that you run the risk of your eyes looking red and puffy. To combat that, use a fast response eye cream to de-puff both under the eye and on the eyelid, like First Aid Beauty’s Eye Duty Triple Remedy AM Gel Cream. Choose your brushes. Selecting the right brush for the right job is essential for this look. You’ll want to start with a flat tapered brush, which picks up a lot of color, for the initial base application. Later, you’ll need a fluffier, rounded brush for blending. Apply the shadow. The key to rocking this look? Applying it the right way! Using your flat tapered brush, apply the color along the lash line only. It’ll look really vibrant and colorful – the perfect base for blending the color onto the rest of the your eye.
Blend, blend, blend! Now take your rounded brush and feather the shadow toward the corner of the eye. This blending technique will create a gradient of color from your lash line towards your brow line, for that perfectly-blended look.

It can seem like with weak, brittle nails, you either have them or you don’t. And if you do, it probably seems like just one of those things you have to deal with (and hide via frequently polishing!). But nothing can waste a fresh mani like brittle nails that chip or split. Thankfully there actually are many ways to combat this issue, you just may have to try a few to find what works.
Start With The Cuticle – Healthy nails truly do begin at the base of the nail, the cuticle, so cuticle care is key. The Olive Oil Trick – If you’re looking for a natural, organic remedy this is a great option. For weak nails that never seem to grow thick enough, try soaking them in a small bowl of olive oil for 10 or 15 minutes once a day for a month. After you soak, massage the oil into your nail and cuticle to help increase the blood flow and promote growth to your nail.
Supplement Your Diet – If you’re not getting a daily dose of leafy greens, a vitamin might just be the best route to strengthen your nails. Brittle nail syndrome is real and it’s typically caused from a lack of moisture, iron, zinc or calcium. So, multivitamins with vitamins and minerals like these might just solve the problem – and any others you may have.
File Right – The direction in which you file your nails can either make or break it – literally. While sturdy nails might be more resistant to the back-and-forth nail file motion, this just causes brittle nails to break more easily and possibly even split. Ditch the Acetone – I know, but it really gets the job done. Well, if you have weak nails, you might want to stay away from overusing nail polish remover. If you use more than twice a month, this can also be detrimental to the health of your nails – especially those with harsh chemicals like acetone.
Be Patient – Hate to break it to you (^_^) but there’s no instant fix. In order to see the results you really want, it’s going to take some time. It can actually take up to three months before you begin to see a difference, but once you do you’ll be glad you took the time to invest in the health of your nails! DIY TEXTURIZING SEA SALT SPRAY

It might not be beach weather just yet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t sport a gorgeous beach-inspired hairstyle, right? Texturizing hair sprays are a great way to add a little oomph to lifeless locks or boost fine hair in order to give it more volume and energy. If your hair is straight, a texturizing spray can help give it lift, plus hold waves if curled. If your hair is already wavy, the spray can breathe life into dull strands.
There are tons of these types of sprays out there, but if you have the ingredients, why not do a little DIY? Not only will it save some much appreciated $$$, you can customize the intensity (how much salt used), whether it’s moisturizing (by adding leave in conditioner) and the scent too. Here’s a recipe to use as a guide:
(makes 1 mini bottle – for full size, triple the ingredients)
1/2 tsp – 1 tsp sea salt (coarse salt shown for illustrative purposes, you can grind it up or use fine)
1/2 tsp coconut oil, liquified

DIY Sea Salt Spray for Hair
1. Boil enough water to fill bottle 3/4 full, add in salt and add to bottle.
2. Add liquid coconut oil to moisturize. Note: You can use another oil instead, but if using coconut, make sure to store in a warm enough place that it doesn’t solidify!

Test it out with a few spritzes while going through your daily routine to get a feel for any ingredients you might want to add or increase. You want to strike a balance of tousled and natural, not unruly and stiff! Lately I’ve been thinking of the things we do for our beauty and skin care. Although it sounds superficial, caring for your skin and expressing yourself through makeup isn’t all vanity – many of the questionable beauty rituals we perform are about keeping skin healthy, happy and fresh. Of course, some are just fun too. Here are 10 beauty rituals that actually offer results – no matter how crazy they seem to onlookers!
1. Steeping some tea bags only to let it cool and press on your eyesas a de-puffer when you got no sleep the night before.
2. Covering up your face with folded, lotion soaked tissues for a DIY sheet mask.
